Dez by the Bay?
The San Francisco 49ers seem to be this year‘s sexy pick by many experts to be the surprise team in the NFC. While they haven’t reached out to Bryant with any interest in bringing him on board, it appears Bryant is interested in the Niners. According to Niners Nation, Bryant made a comment on Instagram saying he wanted to play for the 49ers.
Not long after it went up, the comment was deleted. Bryant was released by the Dallas Cowboys on April 13, and some experts believed that he would be swooped up by a team very quickly. That hasn’t happened. Could Dez be a bit worried that he won’t get picked up by anyone? Below is a look at the comment Bryant made – which magically disappeared not long after.

Man without a team?
Dez Bryant could offer a team a lot, but just the fact that he is still on the open market may speak volumes about what teams think of weighing the good vs the bad. Bryant will turn 30 in November, which is far from old, but it is the beginning of the twilight years in terms of a professional sports figure.
Bryant was one of the league‘s best receivers from 2012 to 2014 when he put together three consecutive seasons of at least 88 catches, 1,200 yards, and 12 touchdowns. At that point of his career, it seemed that he was on pace to be inducted to the Cowboys Ring of Fame following his retirement. 2014 seems like a lifetime ago for the former Oklahoma State star.
Sure, he did suffer a few injuries that slowed him down in 2015 and again in 2016, however, last season Bryant played in all 16 games for the first time since 2014. Bryant racked up nearly 900 yards receiving while hauling in 69 catches. While many experts have said they believed that Bryant has lost a step or two, they may be leaving out the fact that he hasn’t had Tony Romo as his quarterback for two seasons now. The Prescott to Bryant combo wasn’t as effective as the Romo to Bryant duo. Taking that into consideration, Bryant could still be a great pick up for a team that has a QB that loves to sling it down the field – like the 49ers. At 6-2, Bryant would add some much-needed size to the 49ers‘ receiver core. He could also help the team out in the red zone, an area that the Niners struggled in over the past few seasons.
