American depository receipts of European stocks were 0.2% higher at 119.83 on the Bank of New York Mellon Europe ADR Index on Wednesday morning.
Pharmaceutical companies led the gainers in Continental Europe with Forward Pharma (FWP), a Danish biopharmaceutical company, and Cellectis (CLLS), a French genome engineering company, both 4.2% higher, followed by Oasmia Pharmaceuticals (OASM), an Austria-based clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company and Nabriva Therapeutics, 4.1% and 2.4% higher, respectively.
In the UK, gainers were led by by Motif Bio (MTFB), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, 3.3% higher, followed by GW Pharmaceuticals (GWPH), up by 1.4% and Amarin (AMRN), 1.3% higher. BP (BP), an oil and gas production company, was up by 1.0%.
Decliners in Continental Europe were led by Advanced Accelorator Applications (AAAP), a radiopharmaceutical company, 4.7% lower, followed by Edap (EDAP), a French medical devices developer, down by 2.4% and Talend (TLND), a provider of open source integration solutions, down by 2.3% and Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), a Spanish financial group, 1.8% lower.
