American Samoa‘s Commerce Commission is trying to address community concerns that buses are not picking up students.
Parents have complained that drivers with the bus company Aiga are not picking up children, especially high school students, whose bus fare is 25 cents.
However, drivers say students sometimes use foul language, are not respectful to elderly passengers and vandalise buses.
During a meeting with the commission, bus operators said the low student fare should mean students give up their seats to adults.
Adult fares are at least a dollar.
The Commission‘s chair, Keniseli Lafaele, said he would consider the concerns and propose solutions at another meeting.
